Creative ways to use Carpet Scraps!

Many times we see people toss old carpet of rugs that have a stain on them. Next time before you send that old rug or carpet to a landfill remember theses 11 tips!

1. Keep your knees clean while fixing a flat

If you store a carpet scrap in the trunk of your car, you’ll also be able to use it to protect your knees when you have to kneel on the side of the road to change a flat tire.

2. Move Heavy Furniture

Slide pieces of carpet pile-side down under-neath the legs of a bureau, bed, or dresser, then push it across the floor—much easier than lifting.

3. Line the inside of a tool drawer in your workshop

 Your tools will stay in place instead of sliding around getting damaged.

4. Keep Fido or Fluffy Happy

Line a dog house with old carpet to make it cozy, or make a scratching post for your cat by gluing scrap carpet to a 4×4 post.

5. Protect Your Car Doors from Damage

Attach strips of carpet to the wall of your garage so that you don’t ding your door when you open it.

6. Clean a Scraper While You Work

Scrapers and putty knives quickly gum up with residue as you remove paint with a chemical stripper. Wipe yours on a carpet scrap from time to time to keep the working edge clean and sharp.

7. Protect workshop tools

 If you put down a few carpet remnants around your workbench, tools or containers that accidentally fall to the concrete floor will be less likely to break.

8. Protect new ponds

Old carpet is great for using in new ponds, under the liner, to smooth off all those sharp bits and make sure the liner is not punctured.

9. Cushion Your Knees When Gardening

Roll up a scrap of carpet and kneel on it when spreading mulch, planting flowers, or weeding.

10. On the bottom rung of your ladder to clean your feet

Cut a piece of carpeting to size and staple it on the bottom rung of your ladder. You can wipe your feet before you climb up and you’ll be less likely to slip.

11. Save your socks!

Place a narrow piece of carpet on the floor between and behind the two appliances. The next time something falls, just pull out the strip and the clothing item will come with it.
